Sesame Workshop and Quest Diagnostics as part of the Quest for Health Equity (Q4HE) initiative
are working together to create a bilingual (English and Spanish), multimedia program that helps all
families build healthy habits as a foundation for lifelong well-being. This effort addresses systemic
barriers to health care and helps improve access to the critical resources every family needs to stay
well. The latest materials showcase how there are many ways to support families in being healthy
in both mind and body. The new resources include two videos and a digital storybook.
Below you’ll find sample social media copy to share these resources with your community. We
thank you for your commitment and support as we continue in our mission to help all children grow
smarter, stronger, and kinder.

This panel discussion will examine the results of efforts to significantly expand the reach of HUD’s Family Self-Sufficiency Program through partnerships between the nonprofit Compass Working Capital and the Boston and Cambridge Housing Authorities. Panelists will discuss their program model and its evaluation, how they have scaled up FSS, what results they have experienced to date, and where they plan to go from here. An FSS program participant will participate in the panel and share their perspective on how the program has benefitted them.

Public and affordable housing agencies and organizations have the potential to serve as a crucial foundation for promoting early school success for economically challenged, fragile and otherwise marginalized children and families through a 24/7/365 multigenerational system of support and an ability to meet families 'where they are.' During this engaging session, Housing Is and our long-time partner The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading will elevate the critical importance of these housing-education partnerships, with special attention to the way in which such collaborations begin. This plenary will explore initial partnership development work taking place in Kansas City, MO, one of the 20 finalist communities recently announced for the 2022 All-America City Awards. The theme of this year's award is "Housing as a Platform to Promote Early School Success and Equitable Learning Recovery." Attendees have the unique opportunity to hear from a partnership in its earlier stages of development and learn alongside the speakers how critical cross-sector work can be launched.

After over a year of remote learning, everything is out-of-school time at this point. With unknowns about vaccinations for children, communities should prepare for uneven plans across communities for summer and fall 2021. This discussion session focuses on capacity: how to support virtual and hybrid learning, how to counter learning loss, supporting parent engagement, supporting staff to support parents, providing adult socio-emotional learning, and providing connection to services. Panelists will share examples from on the ground, toolkits, and other resources, while also allowing time for small group discussion to share challenges and troubleshoot solutions.

Which neighborhoods in America offer children the best chance to rise out of poverty? The Opportunity Atlas answers this question using anonymous data following 20 million Americans from childhood to their mid-30s. Now you can trace the roots of today's affluence and poverty back to the neighborhoods where people grew up. See where and for whom opportunity has been missing, and develop local solutions to help more children rise out of poverty.

Understanding the characteristics of infants and toddlers in our states and communities is an important first step for supporting children’s development during their most critical years. Making more detailed and comprehensive information available on the young children living in different communities can help stakeholders more strategically develop and target key services such as child care, home visiting, or other services for young children. For example, knowing how many young children live in low-income families and what share have parents working full time can help states and localities tailor child care investments and services to reach those families who most need assistance.

Over the past decade, new research has revealed the link between early trauma and lifelong mental health issues. These discoveries have since revolutionized social work, healthcare, and early education. Policy changes enacted in response to our understanding of the biology of trauma are prioritizing earlier interventions like nurse home visiting services for at-risk families, and an increase in pre-kindergarten programs.
