Project Based Vouchers: Lessons from the Past to Guide the Future

Webinar

CBPP invites you to register for a webinar on Thursday, December 7 from 4:00-5:00 Eastern on the history and future of project-based vouchers. While most Housing Choice Vouchers are tenant-based, meaning that they are used in a unit of a family’s choice in the private market, project-based vouchers are tied to a particular development through long-term contracts and, as a result, can be used to support development of affordable housing. Barbara Sard, former Senior Advisor to HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan and former CBPP Vice President for Housing Policy, will present findings from a new paper examining legislative changes enacted in 2000 that – together with later reforms – led to widespread use of project-based vouchers today. She will also discuss policy recommendations for the future of this important component of federal rental assistance policy and take questions.
