Choose to Protect SNAP: The Role of SNAP Choice in Supporting Access, Dignity, and Equity

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) allows participants to make decisions about the food and beverages they purchase, which supports SNAP access and participants’ dignity and equity. Although this freedom to choose is a popular and crucial part of SNAP, some proposals have been introduced to impose restrictions on what people can purchase, which puts SNAP implementation and participation at risk.
