The research is clear; home visiting is a proven practice that supports and engages parents and caregivers in the early years, helping families and children succeed. With today’s technology, we are finding ways to reach more families, in real time, at less cost.

I hope you will join us for a series of two webinars exploring the promise of virtual home visiting as a part of the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading’s GLR Learning Tuesdays webinar series.

On Nov. 5, Carly Roberts from Overdeck Family Foundation and Dr. Dorian Traube and Amanda Taylor from the University of Southern California Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work will introduce the concept of virtual home visiting, how it works, the research behind it, how parents are responding and what we are learning.

On Nov. 12, we will continue that conversation with a team from the Parents as Teachers National Center, as Allison Kemner, Donna O’Brien and Angela Rau join me in exploring proposed research designs and a case study describing the learning from virtual screening.

As Parents as Teachers celebrates its 35th anniversary, we are excited about sharing the promise and potential of virtual home visiting — something that was unimaginable to us in 1984 — as we continue our work to support children’s first and most important teachers.
